Insight Seminars is an international non-profit educational organization* headquartered in Santa Monica, California, USA.  Founded 30 years ago, Insight operates throughout the world including North America, South America, Australia, Europe, Russia, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

More than one million worldwide have participated in the Insight Seminar Series.  With our advanced educational technology and heartfelt focus, Insight provides participants with practical tools to support them in living more authentic, successful, and abundant lives. 

Since 1978 Insight has been providing opportunities for men and women, children and teens to experience more of the natural magnificence of who they truly are. 

Our seminars literally guide participants into the awareness of how life can be better - for themselves and others - when they are living compassionately, making choices from the perspective of what we call their "heart." Insight Seminars are educational processes.  The focus of the seminars is what we call the "heart," the center of our authentic Self.  Each seminar involves doing, thinking, feeling, and just being.  Carefully structured processes of brief lectures, personalized one-to-one exercises, group and individual sharings, guided creative imagery, and fun games build day-by-day, creating for participants an experience of loving and caring for themselves and others.  The seminar atmosphere is one of unconditional acceptance, safety, and support.

Insight's History and Heritage

Insight Seminars was founded in 1978 by John-Roger, an international educator, author, and speaker.  He, along with Russell Bishop, a personal growth facilitator and workshop designer, created the first Insight I Seminar.  One hundred and fifty-one people who had been studying spiritually with John-Roger through the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA) gathered in Santa Monica, California in January 1978 to pioneer what was then a one off experiment in personal growth education.

Insight I: The Awakening Heart Seminar, now the first in The Insight Seminar Series, was created out of this community's shared desire to gain practical tools for becoming more effective and successful in their lives.  Since its beginning, over a million people have attended Insight Seminars throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Greece, Canada, Russia, Spain, Israel, South America, Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean Basin, Puerto Rico, Africa, and Australia.

Insight’s roots come from MSIA - these are spiritual roots based with the core values of loving, integrity, and service - and roots that form the basis of our three ground rules found in all of the work we do.  Insight’s very first seminar was offered to students who had been studying with John-Roger in MSIA who wanted to learn how to live their lives more effectively in the world, Today Insight is an independent international educational organization, welcoming and embracing people of all faiths, beliefs, sizes, shapes, races, genders, etc.
